
University of Cape Town
The University of Cape Town (UCT) is South Africa’s oldest university and one of the continent’s premier teaching and research institutions.
Its more than 100,000 alumni include the late Professor Christiaan Barnard, a world-renowned heart surgeon, as well as three Nobel laureates, Sir Aaron Klug, the late Professor Alan MacLeod Cormack, and JM Coetzee.
UCT also has over 80 specialist research units that supervise postgraduate studies. It is home to more than one-third of South Africa’s A-rated researchers, who are considered world leaders in their fields.
